Happy National Radio Day

Seems like everything and everyone is now entitled to its own National Day and 15 seconds of fame. Today it is radio in the spotlight. About 100 years old, radio is pretty old-school when it comes to mass media choices in a world of smart phones and social media. But while geriatric radio is not ready for retirement. If anything radio continues to confound those who thought that TV, then the internet, would kill it.

If anything radio has been forced to adapt with the times. Commercial radio is still a strong option during drive time (mornings and afternoons when many of us are trapped in our cars commuting to/from work). Others, like construction workers, often listen to the radio while on the job. But for many of us personal music playlists or streaming music services have stepped in to fill the void when a radio is readily available.

  1. I Enjoyed this blog it gives off the underdog type of feeling to radio as a concept and some of the things said made you think is radio really ready to end. Now to me I believe without radio it’s like old music there’s nothing like a classic you know and oh that first comment is very open.

  2. This was a very informative blog, giving good details in how the radio is having to adapt to modern day society and with National Radio day radio has its moment of fame. In the book “media essentials” it mentions how this is the age of the internet, and because of this radio is having a hard time thriving. The blog also mentioned who radio had to adapt with the times so that it would not go obsolete, which was being handy when people were in their cars going to and from work and so forth. i feel that this blog makes some valid points, and from reading this blog i feel that the use of radio will still be here for a long while although the internet is taking over.

  3. National Radio day gives radio it’s moment of fame. The radio industry has been through many trial and tribulations in the past 100 years it’s been around. With the invention in the early 20th century, radio was once the internet now back in that time frame. Radio today is fairly different now but has the same big industry owners. Advertising has took the sound of FM radio. Back in the 20th century music and talk shows would air all day and night. Overall the radio was the first mass medium and it is still alive and well after 100 years.

  4. i read the post on the insite and thought of porn. i think its cool on how its either you agree with it or you don’t. one person quoted that they stop watching porn because they wanted to more sex and be intimate, and the other person says they watch it to to be better in bed and it makes them feel better basically.
